Suspension Urgent: Differences in strut housings?
Urgent: Differences in strut housings?
I had a brake line failure yesterday. The brake line apparently had been rubbing on the car and split open. Looking at the strut housings on the front of my 2006 Mini Cooper S, the mounting point for the brake lines are different on each side of the car.
On the passenger side of the car, the brake line attachment faces the back of the car.
On the driver's side of the car, the brake line attachment faces the front of the car close to the caliper.
Did the design of the strut housings change over time?
My driver's side front had been changed a year ago due to damage from a parking lot accident (hit and run) where the other car hit the wheel and bent the suspension. I wonder if the dealer installed the wrong strut...
Car is at the shop now getting looked at so an urgent/quick response is much appreciated. Thanks!
