Memorial Day Road Trip

So, I've had li'l Piper for 10days now & it looks like this weekend is her first road trip. Phoenix, AZ, to Silver City, NM, via US Hwy 60 & US Hwy 70(~250miles each way). Going to visit the sibling unit & the googies.

Any thoughts on the route? Suggestions, cautions?

Survival kit:
Slime (one container)
Air compressor (craftsman)
Dynaplug kit
Tunes (i-pod)
Communication device (cell)

I'm still on the factory run-flats. Any other recommended survival equipment?

She has 400mi on the odometer, we'll still be below break-in milage by the time I get home.

Nothing to add. Good safety kit, although I only take my AAA card with me on long trips.

Your run-flats will probably get you to a safe spot and call MINI on the cell for assistance.

Drive, enjoy and keep the revs up and down for a proper break-in, then drive it fast.

^^Copy that: Wave & have fun! I still get a big, goofy grin on my face whenever I think about the MINI.

I'll break out the Speedcats & a fake British accent to bring out that 'authentic' feel.

On! On!

Very cool trip. My wife used to live in Silver City. If you like quiet it is great.
Have fun.

Sounds like fun! Am hoping for the opportunity for a little Memorial Day road trip myself.

Fingers crossed that I can take delivery on Saturday.

It would be quiet. More so because the SU lives 16miles outside Silver City with the quail, deer, and coyotes. But the googies (2 nieces, 1 nephew -- all under age 5) are there, too, keeping the volume to a mild roar.

Looking forward to the drive on the old US Highways. It should be interesting if nothing else because of the small towns along the way. The roads do not look very twisty on the map.
