Bilstein Sport Shocks & ??????? Springs

Looking to get opinions on what would be a good set of springs to pair up with some Bilstein Sport Shocks.

I don't want the car slammed to the ground, don't mind a little bit of drop, but not excessive. Looking for a better quality ride than what I have now. Living on Texas the roads and highways are terrible, so I need something that is going to give me a smoother ride.

I know about the TSW springs and am looking for some additional options.

What other shock/spring combos pair well together?

A lot of people run TSW springs with Koni yellows. I've heard multiple times that Bilstein's ride rough. I eventually want to go with the former, myself.

Since it sounds like your MINI is a daily driver, try the SP's with stock springs for a while. You might be surprised. The Mini is suspension travel challenged and bumpstop active. The more we take away, the stiff the springs should be. That being said, Promini.com has a bilstein SP setup that they put together with custom H&R springs.

The TSW springs are very popular with OEM struts, as the TSW folks have done shock dyno testing with various spring rates.

I stayed with stock springs and koni FSD's because of the resulting mushrooming of 60k from the excuses of roads here in Northeast Jersey and NYC. I am tempted to try the Bilstein SP's with stock springs, but alas the R&D budget (let alone the racing budget) is nonexistant.

Thought I'd revive this - has anyone done Bilstein Sport Shocks with H&R springs? I'm looking for increased track performance for less than coilover dinero. Thanks.

You know, my buddy runs bilstein and H&R combo on hi E30 M3 and it feels great! The ride is rougher for sure, but it is not jarring or inconsistent. I feel that the setup would work well on the mini as well, given that the E0 M3 is also rather suspension travel challenged. Just my .02

search. you will find scobib aka tsw had run sp's with h&r greens on his r50 and spoke highly about the combo for auto-x. the promini setup runs custom h&r springs (blue) and sp's.

The streets and roads around Munich must be smooth as glass.

Keep us appraised of you choice of spring. And be sure to tell us how it rides on these mean streets in jersey.

Will do. I'm more interested in how it rides on the mean tracks of the north east, but I'll report everything. This is year THREE of suspension searching, and the one I want is out there all the while; I just don't have the cajones or dinero to pull the trigger: TSW's AST/Swift track setup mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

This weekend has brought up other needs I should go for before doing the suspension anyway - stickier tires, cooling to my brakes, and after watching a few people smack walls pretty hard, I think I want a welded roll bar, too.

Ugh, this hobby sucks.
