depending on that nasty noise at takeoff, it might be yr dual mass flywheel that's defective or worn, and not the clutch, and since U cant turn a DMF that should be replaced with the clutch--but then we dont know what kind of MINI U own: regular coopers have regular flywheels while S's have the DMF. More info is needed here.
That was a good one.
There have been lots of posts about which one is "better".
Exedy, Fidanza, Spec, Clutchmasters, etc. It depends on your setup and what the future plans are for your car. But, anything, probably is better than stock. Shop around.

Clutch
I have a question, just having my clutch replaced a few months back with only 28,000 miles on it (and I drive pretty normal). Will converting from a DMF to a solid flywheel cause adverse issues with a MCS? I now have 39,000 miles on her and am looking at ways to extend the life of the various parts I replace in the future. I'm not a big fan of the DMF used on the 04-06 MCSs, there have been quite a few in the club that have already had to have the DMF and clutch replaced.

Read somewhere on the interweb (don't remember exactly where/what) that the main reason BMW went with DMFW was to quiet down the transmission some. The Midlands, I'm thinkin'. Not so much for any performance/mechanical reasons, but it was a couple of years ago and the wet-ram is losing some retention. Time for an upgrade.
Footnote: The DMFW is also designed to insulate the tranny from vibrations and shocks from the engine. The internal springs are tuned to a particular engines torque curve and are not overly fond in torque/hp increases. Early failure can ensue. But then, you don't look like you've fiddled with the engine.
