Pepper Jack provides me with 36 MPG!

I just completed my fist entire tank with no highway driving. My commute is about 20 miles each way, 5 days a week. It is a mixture of county roads, state roads and city streets. No highway at all. Much of the drive is twisties with plenty of hills (and spirited driving ). AC in use much of the time. In general it is considerably less than optimal for best MPG. Yet it got an astounding 36.3 MPG (actual calculation). The OBC read 37.5 for the tank (pretty close). When I purchased the MINI I decided I would be very happy with the mixed (city/highway) estimate of 32 MPG. Needless to say I am one very happy camper. I love this car!

I think is because PW is the most efficient color . My daily drive is very simular and I now have 2k miles on her. I have consistantly got 34.5 - 35.5 mpg. The nearest gas station carries V Power 94 octane and right or wrong in the octane debate I am totally sold on using the highest octane I can.

I plan on at least a new drop in filter and am dying to shed the runflats and get some summer shoes with nitrogen to see what happens. You are right about the Mini, irregardless of color you have to love em.

Yea, I forgot to mention that I also use high octane. This tank was BP 93 but I plan to use Shell V-power on a regular basis.

Yup, an MC manual is surprisingly good...but I think we can rule out the Pepper White factor even though it is a superb color. When driving for economy it is possible to get around or over 40 mpg in city driving!!!

Just finished my first full tank and in my calculation Blackjack got 34 mpg with some spirited driving albeit under the 4500rpm break-in limit. I believe with more efficient throttling I could easily hit 38 mpg on my 45 mile commute. Very pleased with the mpg I am getting

thank you cutters - another reminder why I love the Mini so much. Where else can you get a turbocharged engine and get 34 mpg?

When I was in process of purchasing the MCS my sister was pretty heavily involved (she was with me during the test drive, helped me take delivery, etc.), so she got a good taste of Mini for 3 solid weeks. At the time she was also (and still is) in the market for a new car. She says she's leaning toward an Altima hybrid but my mere mentioning of 40mpg in the Cooper is definitely swaying her to the dark side, nevermind the whole Mini experience .
