Getting Tinted!
Oooh! Good luck and enjoy! What kind and percentage are you getting?
My baby got her sunglasses a couple of weekends ago--the ceramic tint, which is supposed to block out more heat. Never got tint on a car before, so I don't have a reference point, other than it DOES seem to improve the interior temp. We'll see, come July, August ... Cuts way down on the glare, too

I'm not sure yet of the percentage, I want to see what it is going to look like in person. I'm mainly interested in heat rejection (it gets way too hot in the summer for me and the air conditioner is kind of weak).
I'll post pictures after I get it done.
Yeah I'm pretty psyched about it. I have the sunroof (which I love in the winter) but I gotta do something about reducing the temps now that its getting hot. The more awesome look won't suck either!
My garage at home is heated and air conditioned but at work I have to park outdoors. Nice in the winter, brutal in the summer! But I do have the *best* spot in the lot - a "private" spot that nobody can park next to!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what % to go with? I'm planning to tint my windows in the next few weeks and have never done this to a car before. I don't want limo tint or anything that dark as I think it would look ridiculous, just something to keep the car a little cooler and to prevent me from getting baked when I drive several hours.
The law in SC dictates the max you can go with (assuming that you want to minimize hassles from The Man). If you drive into Georgia you want to be compliant there also as their new law allows them to ticket out of state drivers(!!!) who are in violation of their law.
The guy who tinted mine with with 40%. He said that was a very common tint level; looks like you got tint, but not so dark as a limo. Also meets SC requirements.
Don't forget to get a quote from a tinter that offers the 10% discount to M2C2 members. Might save you $
BTW, not sure if you'll have the same experience, but my windows/tint had some blue-gray haze and tiny bubbles in them initially after tinting. However, I am happy to report that those faded away over the course of about 10 days as the tint "cured." If your car is garaged, it may take a wee bit longer.

I went with 35% all around so as to be legal pretty much everywhere and am more than pleased with the results. The entire process took just under 2 hours and got some nice thumbs-up from the ricer crowd.
This is totally subjective, but the difference inside is huge - especially with the sunroof tint. I was able to drive with the mesh shades open for the first time ever on a sunny day.
I also picked up the JCW floor mats and put those in.

It really isn't as dark as it seems, seeing out is no problem whatsoever. The main light rejection is in the IR and UV range. The car interior is significantly cooler now, glare is significantly reduced, but there really isn't much reduction in useful light.
Car cooled off much faster after an all-day heat soak. It was comfortable inside after about 10-12 minutes. I'd still like to have a serious air conditioner but, with the tint, this should be at least tolerable in the summer. A significant improvement.
Oh ok, must've just been the light
I think I'm probably going to go the same route to be safe, though I don't know how many people can tell the difference between 35% and 27%...
