Alta Bolt On Turbo Kit, what're your thoughts.?

So i've been doing a little research lately for some "mad" horsepower upgrades and i stumbled upon the Alta Bolt on Turbo Kit. I would love to have a "Twurbo MCS" but i haven't seen much reviews on the kit itself. i know alot of people don't turbo their mini when it's supercharged but i'm thinking about taking the plunge when i have the money.

what do you guys think about it? or what other kits, upgrades, etc. would you reccomend?

Thanks!

I don't have one so my comments are hearsay so to speak. Anyways, the only person I know who has one locally has had to alter/modify or replace most components of the kit as sold. I can't be certain that all components replaced were because of failure, but for sure the manifold cracked and one of the injectors stuck open (causing at one point fuel to drip out of the exhaust). Both of these failures I'm also sure I've read about around this site.

Try to read up with a search on this and several of the other MINI sites to see if there are other past experiences. You might also want to talk to the guys at Alta and some of their resellers, who are vendors on this site, these issues may have already been fixed.

Personally, with the same amount of money I would go a different route. But that's just me with my daily driver.

Also from hearsay, I've heard of some issues with the kit, and that you need to purchase additional parts for it to work. Keep in mind you will also have to get it tuned...

I would save the money and go through Jan or another tuner.

Save the time and frustration. Go with an RMW setup. PM jan today and tell him i sent you looking for DA POWAH. Tell him your goals as far as power output, driveability etc. Good luck and feel free to ask questions

Note to mods: this might want to go to Drivetrain (S) section
