R50/53 Key fob strategies
Key fob strategies
I realize that I’m a neanderthal when it comes to modern vehicular technology, but I was blown away when I asked about acquiring an additional key fob thingee to get into the car...they said $400ish. Even the metal key is $50.
I do a lot of outdoor sports and on more than one occasion I’ve been with folks who got these wet and couldn’t get in cars. Yeah, I could baggy it on a run but sometimes it’s gotta hang from my neck and that’s a bother.
So I’m wondering if the best strategy is to hide the fob onboard somewhere, and just carry the metal key. Any good hiding places (perhaps offline if you don’t wanna give up the secret)?
And can you get a blank so that you could have a hanging point for the fob when the metal key is with you?
TIA,
Rob

Yeah my advice would be to carry the valet key and hide the big key/fob either on the little ledge in front of the rear wheel or lock it under the gas flap (I used to do this with my old car...you'd have to put it under the flap, then lock the whole car from the inside - I guess, I've never tried it on a MINI).
