SIRIUS Stiletto mounts

Anyone have any good ideas about mounting a Sirius Stiletto in a 2008 MC? I’ve got the wiring wired (so to speak) and the antenna hooked up, but I’m having trouble with ideas on a good place to stick it without wires running all over the place. I can run power from behind the cig lighter (although I’m gonna have to stow the male/female cig lighter sockets somewhere), and I think I can get the antenna wire there, but I’m still forced to run a cable to the aux port.

I suppose there must be a way in behind the whole radio facade, but even then I’d probably have problems exiting the wires from there, and I still don’t see a good place for it.

So it seems like maybe the passenger cupholder. But those expanding cupholder tower mounts are too tall, and block the passenger window switch.

Any ideas?

Rob

I will post how i did mine with the kuda mount and the modifications i did, its still not perfect but i have been going through different variations. What i have now will be the final work and then i will just get replacement screws that are flat on top.

I put my xm radio in the cubby in front of the shifter. I got the hardwire dc adapter for it and put it under the lower dash cover. The dash wires were run under the plastic trim. I cut a piece of wood painted it black and put some velcro on it and the receiver. It's on a dock so I can remove it and use it in a boom box kind of thing in the house. The view isn't perfect, but if you really want to see the artist you can look down there. I like it because it is out of the way.

Pictures are in my gallery

I did alot of mods to the mount. I was not happy with the way the kuda mounts. It uses 2 tabs on the center console side that slip in the gap between the heat/cool dial and the right side of the cd player. This makes the heat/cool dial stick.

So i moved the mount as high as it would go and put in 2 screws to secure it in place, there was a slight amount of movement from left to right so i took a the mount down and bent the screw tab in slightly to hold the mount in place better.

I cut a hole in the base of the mount to allow the cables to feed. I need to find 2 new screws that have much flatter heads and will not cause a gap.

Thanks for the pictures. That really looks like the only possible place to put it. Does it interfere with your glove box at all?

It did before i bent the screw tab back, but once i did this it stays about 2 mm out of the way.

Its at a perfect angle to see even in the sun and the buttons are easy to get too. The cd is the only thing thats in the way but because i do not use the tabs, the mount moves just enough to allow the cd in.

Maybe PROCLIPS

I have an R56 MCSa and I hated the idea of shelling out money for the MINI NAV and being installed on the left side of the driver side.

I was at the Carlisle Show and RAB from DC Metro Mini suggested PROCLIPS because they do two things:

1. Take the model of your Navigation System, Satellite Radio, or any handheld device and have a "holder" for it and it attaches to the;

2. Take the model for your car and a make "mount" for it.

Attach the two together to make the perfect attachment on your dash without the suction cups on your windows.
