I also just purchased a Mini S, it's an 06 with just 9,000 miles. I love the way it handles and the power is pretty good for the size car.
My only complaint is that the center console rattles and squeaks everywhere. I am hoping that someone here can direct me in the right direction to stop the noise. It's worse than any car I have ever owned. It is still under warranty I think should I just bring it in?

Hello and welcome! If it were mine, and under warranty, I would let them fix it. Maybe someone else knows where your squeaks and rattles are coming from? I have an 02, with 5X the miles as yours, and not a sound from it. Hope some one can help you!

does it have the armrest, or is it the normal console? i drove a few and all of the ones with the armrest upgrade had teh squeak/rattle.

if it is under warranty then i would def take it to them though.

make sure that none of the tabs are broken off would be my start for looking at it though.

Under what Conditions ?

Welcome,

Under what conditons does this happen. (ie) During Engine Idle, Oper. on bumpy roadway, driving over burms on bridges. Maybe the console was removed for some reason and not re-installed correctly ?

I have some 56,000 miles on mine. The only rattles I hear come from the sunroof (only when closed) when on rough paved roads, and the junk in my boot....

If it can easily be duplicated, Take a MINI Service Tech for a spin.

Good luck.

Yes! By all means, take it in, if it's under warranty.

Welcome to the community.

Thanks for the replys. It happens under all driving conditions, highway, back roads and all RPM's. I didn't think it was normal for a car of this quality to sound like a plastic piece of junk. I'll bring it in to see if they can fix the squeaks and clicks. I found one of the clicks, it was the plastic ring that attaches the leather boot to the shifter. If I hold that ring, that click goes away but there are several more to deal with and I run out of hands.

Mine (06 bought new by me) squeaked enough to cause brain damage but from just 2 places; something loose in the glove box, upper left corner fixed by the dealer and the left (driver's side) upper fastener on the down tube. Only thing that squeaks now, and not too bad, is the rear hatch over big bumps.

If the symptoms of your "brain damage" was/is simply obsessive thought processes concerning motoring, detailing, mods and such, then that is normal MINI ownership DNA conversion going on.
