Another thing to consider when/if I am lucky enough to buy a Mini...

Is it worth getting the dealer installed CD Changer. The Miniusa website lists it for something like $620 if I recall, and that doesn't include whatever the dealer charges to install it.

Is the car pre-wired for a changer and is it possible to get one aftermarket that will easily install back there AND work with the stock head unit? My BMW came pre-wired and I bought the changer from a BMW aftermarket company for much less than the dealer wanted for the same thing. I installed it myself in about 20 minutes and saved a bunch of $$$.

Is this an option with the Mini?

Don't get it - way overpriced. Buy it yourself.

Yes it is. The MINI is prewired to put the changer in the cargo area. There are many many threads about it in the forum. A search should get you all the info you need.

You can pick up the BMW unit for $285 any day of the week on Ebay (that's the common "buy-it-now" price) or less if you're wiling to wait a bit to get one.
The installation looks to be fairly simple. It's a plug and play deal if you get the right kind of unit.
Check here for installation guides.

No problem. I like to help ppl out. It doesn't cost me any more to post actual info than to post a "why didn't you do a search!! " message.
