I'm seriously considering purchasing a Megan Racing exhaust for Nigel. I've seen the two clips on google of the exhaust and it sounds great. But I'd really like to hear the exhaust from the inside of the car. If anyone would be gracious enough to do a sound clip with and without windows up that would be oh so helpful! Thanks

I could do it, but my rear seat is gone so it will be louder then if you have the seats in and up.

My MINI is also my office and with the widows up have never had anyone hear the Megan at speed.

 

What about the exhaust getting discolored after use? Is there a way to get it back to the original shine, including the tip? I'm thinking about buying a used megan racing cat back, but it appears quite discolored.

 

Check with the detail gang on that.

I does take some getting used to, but now I can't imagine my R50 without it.

The P21S Finish Restorer is an effective metal polish that brightens aluminum, magnesium, stainless steel, chrome, brass and other tarnished metals.

And if that doesn't keep the tips stain-free, I assure you I'll find something that does. I'm a serious OCDetailer.

 

Actually, JUST read your thread this morning. Great car, great garage, great floor, great choice on exhaust. My Megan Racing exhaust arrives Tuesday. I have a tube of the p21s. I'll give that a try. Also intrigued by the polish bought at Williams Sonoma.... Thanks for the thoughts.

 

Appreciate all the kind words !! Yeah, I'm pretty sure that P21S is going to do the job, especially if you keep after it periodically and don't let the black stains get a good grip.

 

You get some additional cabin noise from the resonance of the exhaust. It's more apparent at start up idle but calms down once your engine is warmed up. I was fine with it, but I share my MINI with my wife who was a little slower to live with it. Now she loves it and laughs when she hears 'quiet' Coopers.

 

Is this a self install?

 

When you install would you be so kind to install audio clips?

 

I would if I had the equipment/know how to do so.

 

Maybe for some. Working with exhaust, most leave that to the pros, I'm sure. Exhaust leaks... not good.

Yeah, our Coopers are almost two years old now, Mel. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. I'll let you know if four days.

I'm trying to balance my fear of my CVT with my desire to start performance mods

I think I'm going to get a basic drivetrain extended warranty so I can still sleep at night (for the CVT) and then go for it.

 

Yeah, both ours are CVTs with about 28,000 miles on them. I'm sure we'll be buying the extended warranties before they hit 50,000 miles also.

So... can't be doing too many performance mods or MINI will not allow the warranty. CAI and cat-backs are fine, per my SA.
