R50/53 Bought a used mini ...how do i tell what options are on it?
Most of us can help you out. What year is it? Is it an MC or MCS? Auto or stick?
Premium Package = sunroof, better stereo, and something else.
Technically it's *possible* that the sunroof is ordered outside of Premium package but not likely.
Cold Package includes heated seats and some other stuff. Does your dash have buttons for turning seat heaters on?
Are there fog lights (1 or 2) on the back by the bottom (if 2 of them then you have 2007 or 2008), 1 of them is older model MC/MCS

Put a few pictures on here, interior and exterior, It'll be easy for us to determine the specs.
Or you can email MINI USA (Customer Support) with the VIN they can give you the spec list of that car.

Sport (Xenon (on the S models), Sport seats (On the non S), 17" wheels on the S and 16" wheels on the Cooper. ***I think***that the Cooper come with Sport Suspension after a certain year in the sports package not sure. Also fog lights come with Sports package!
Convenience Package and Cold (I forgot which one goes in which) but your looking at, heated seats, rain sensors, garage opener, auto dimming rear view.
The buttons for the seat heaters are located beside the mirror controls.

Probably best just to call 866-ASK-MINI or have a dealer run the VIN. While we could talk you through identifying the presence or absence of most of the options, there may be a few we'd forget, and a few (like LSD) where there's no simple way to check whether or not you have it.
Still, if you'd like to post interior/exterior shots, we'd be happy to get you started!

On your doors do the speakers say Harmon Kardon or not? If it does you got the HK stuff.
You have two sets of fogs??? Sure you don't have the rally lights???

Oops, I thought your mirror caps had chrome on them, guess not! Chrome package would be mirror caps in chrome, grill in chrome, and rear boot handle in chrome!
Great Info!!!
You got S-Lites and Xenon, and also fog lights, so you pretty much got sports, the silver was a choice between either body color, white or silver on Astro Black, which Astro Black was a optional color.

And since you have the automatic, forget what I said about the car possibly having the LSD (Limited-Slip Differential). Those two options weren't available together.
It sounds like you have the Sport Package for sure. If you have the Convenience package, there will be three rubber buttons on the underside of your rear-view mirror for the garage-door opener. If you have the Cold Weather package, there will be heated-seat controls located near the power-mirror controls. If you have the Premium package, there will be two four-way rocker switches on the steering wheel.
Note that if you *do* have any of the things I mentioned, it doesn't mean that you necessarily got the full package associated with that option, since all of the options I mentioned could have been ordered "a la carte", but if you *don't* have one of the options I mentioned, you probably didn't get the package. (That doesn't mean that the original owner didn't order the rest of the items in that particular package as individual options, though).

Also, check the sticker on the driver's-side doorjamb and find out what the build date is for your MINI (the sticker will list the month/year).
Depending on when in 2006 your car was built, it could have the newer 14 mm diameter lug bolts or the older 12 mm bolts. You'll want to know which your car has if you ever want to switch to aftermarket wheels, since not all aftermarket wheels will work with the larger lug bolts.
