R50/53 Best Path of Least Resistence
Best Path of Least Resistence
Well I've been reading NAM for a while, and just recently joined(just bought a used mini).
I'm a proud owner of a 06 MCS... Automatic (please no jokes).
Simply I live in the 5 boroughs of NYC, and i'm lazy, so that should explain a few things
.
It was a matter of when, not if.. I bent a rim. Standard runflat/17" Slite 7 spoke. Its a every soooooo slight bend, that realeases 2psi of air a day :(.
So I'm toying around with buying a set of new wheels/rims.
Are there any super duper advantages I should know/think about with the stock oem rims? If so then maybe buying 1 to replace the bent one @ 250$ is worth it...
And of course anyone with suggestions on what wheels/rims to get. That would be helpful too. I was kinda looking at these on tirerack:
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand
Really didnt want to invest loads of $$, was hoping to stay under 800$ for all 4 wheels =P
Advice?

Hey, there's nothing wrong with an automatic in the MCS. I was one of the few in our area for a long time. Now those that are buying their 2nd MINI are ordering automatics.
That bent wheel can be repaired for a reasonable cost if it is only slightly bent as you say. It would be a lot cheaper than buying a new one to replace it.
Check your yellow pages for "wheel repair", or call some custom wheel shops in your area. They may be able to give you some references.
Click on the link below for some mobile repair folks in your area. Be sure and look at the photo gallery also.

Thanks for all the Suggestions.
I'm thinking that going down to 16's with a normal tire wouldnt be half bad of an idea, and still be able to get blizzaks for the 17's as the winter rim(once i get that last rim repaired).
I'll update which way I'm gonna go
