Reply from Peter at M7 about M7 vs. Craven Strut Protection Plates...

I sent M7 an e-mail asking about their strut protection plates vs. the Craven ones. I mentioned that I had M7s and have no mushrooming, (at least I don't think I do, and if so it likely happened before the plate installation).

Here's the reply:

Hi Robert..

I think you answered your own question. (Having said I had no mushrooming, resmini.)

Craven basically copied us and added a twist where it wasn't needed... simple as that.

Good Luck

If I may ask a question ...

It looks as if you sent a personal email / PM to M7 .
(not sure of your intention if the M7 plates you have are working).

You either recieved a personal email / PM from M7 ... Yes it has a "bit of a twist" to it. But I feel that a personal corispondence should not be opend up to public .. and wondering what your intentions may be.

The plate is not patented by either M7 or Craven ... or anyone, and Peter may feel that his explanation is exactly as things transpired ...

He did not say they the Craven plates don't work.

Are you looking for information or feedback from others with either plate or ???

Sorry if you thought this was "too personal" for me to post here.

Yes I sent him an e-mail and that is the uneditied reply, (except for my comment in (....).

Have a nice day.

SO what's the point by this thread... do you want to ask a question? or are you waiting for some "action" . This thread is pointless and I think everyone knows that the Craven plates has the same function as the M7.

I think you should keep the e-mail directed to you to your self, even though I believe it is your choice to do so...

Yes sir, I did not realize the gravity of the mistake I made in posting this, I beg your forgiveness.

In another thread the question was raised and discussed by several posters as to what the difference is between the two and is one better?

In my misguided effort to find out, I sent an e-mail from M7's "contact" spot on their website and posted the reply for those who might be wondering if there is a difference and what the difference is.

I know it was a bad, bad thing, but I've done even worse in my life and survived to be 64.

My sincere apologies to anyone who reads my posts here and is offended.

one area Craven > M7 plates...the beveled edges. M7 says it's not an issue, but their STB's cut the plastic sheathing of the hood releases on both our R53's. I guess I was unlucky. Twice.

Honestly... did you really expect him to say anything different?

Realistically, only Craven can say whether or not they copied the idea (not that I would expect them to admit that either), but Peter is entitled to his opinion.

I bought a set of cravens today, I have not spoken or emailed M7 so I cannot comment for them but the communication I rec'd from Craven was second to none, Rare in this day and age for an item that costs 150 bucks (less actually) to come with such nice commication.

I have heard enough about Peter at M7 to believe the response would be just as good.

I think its just a matter of which ones you like the look of.

cheers. Peter

Considering the M7's are a few dollars cheaper and they have the option of using the strut bar, I consider them the better option. The Craven's are nice though. I didn't see anything in Peters reply bad? About posting peoples PM's out to the public, I personally wouldn't do it. How would you feel if someone did it to you?

I didn't post Peter's reply because it was bad, or good, it was just information.

How would I feel if someone posted one of my e-mails?

If I was running a business and the e-mail was in reply to a question about my product, I don't think i would care.

Must just be a bad day for me...this is the first time I've encountered so much sensitivity over what seemed to me to be such an innocent thing....

The M7 STB can not be added to the tower plates. You have to buy the complete brace, not just the bar.

Didn't know that they don't sell the bar seperetly, thanks for letting me know. But then just spend another $70. and get the bar also, where can you get a bar for $70.?

Give resmini a break!

he got a reply from a vendor to an enquiry about a product. One would hope that it's the exact same information that you or I would have recieved. There are posts all over the place where information from vendors has been shared.

I guess some things I just don't understand....

Matt

Obviously my mind is not working right because I was not offended by your post nor did I see something wrong with it.. I was curious as to the differences between the 2 since others had claimed one better than another (and I'm likely one of the folks you asked on behalf of...).

Not surprised at the response from M7 folks - I've got them though and so far they've been fine. But I don't see any problem in having more vs less info so thanks for asking, too bad they didn't give you more details in their reply but as I said, not surprising..

What do you think m7 would say?

If you E mailed me about my product I probably wouldn't bad mouth the competition or say bad things. And I would probably say nice things about what I sell.

The better question is why do you think you need a strut bar? Is your car oversteering like crazy?

+1

Who cares... he posted an e-mail, guess what, it's his e-mail to post!

So his post wasn't worded perfectly and didn't have an obvious "Point" but then who cares? Move on...
