R50/53 Strange rubbing sound from rear wheel.
Strange rubbing sound from rear wheel.
2004 MCS, 44k miles. Stinkin' warranty ran out 26 days ago.
At low speeds we can hear a "rubbing" from the rear left wheel. Has progressively gotten worse. Can anyone relate? I'd hate to think it is a ball bearing, but it is rhythmic.
Thanks

bad/worn wheel bearings will indeed make a rhythmic sound, that increases with speed, and gets worse with time.......
I just replaced a left rear wheel bearing...that could be the problem.
Even though the description doesnt sound like brakes, I'd still want to give them a good look first.
Also, a bad/worn tire, slipped belt,.. can cause a noise driving, that sometimes resembles a bad bearing....and would want to eliminate that possibility.

Thanks for the info. We notice it mostly under 12mph. We will have to take it to the Mini dealer (just bought it, but it sat for a month afterward) to have a full check done. (Which was supposedly done at the dealer where we bought it
).
May I ask how much it cost for you to have it replaced?
