R50/53 Mini Madness MCS blows of all FWD competion: Car and Driver,
The 245 HP Mini Madness MCS turned in the fastest road course lap time in the current Car and Driver 10-car comparison. The issue cover is titled, "FOURGASM!"
While the MCS finishes 3rd in the overall competition, it demonstrates concretely what the Mini is REALLY capable of. The glitch in all of this is that C and D reports a 0-60 time of 6.2 seconds [.8 seconds faster than the stock MCS tested earlier], but the 1/4 mile time is 15.7 seconds [.2 seconds SLOWER the stock MCS tested earlier]. This is crazy, maybe even an error? The road course time is impressive and speaks to the good work of Mini Madness.

I saw that 1/4 mile time in the article too. Either someone missed a shift or the recording equipment needs to be recalibrated. I've seen a local MCS turn a 14.91 at a local drag strip during a hot summer afternoon, with only a pulley, ecu, and exhaust as mods. Couldn't have been more than 200 hp.
>>Drag racing is boring at 15 secs, but I imagine it's a bit more exciting at 7 or 8 secs!

haha, so true.
but if thats what is desired, maybe the MINI should be traded in for anything else.

I always thought of drag racing as boring;however a vintags English car show was located on a local drag strip grounds.$10 to see the show,or $20 if you wanted to run.I had never even seen a drag race, but I entered.Best time in my modified MCS,14.9;90 degree day,Goodyear 17"runflats and .1 second lost to a bad start. The test car should have been under my time.
My car has been in T and D ralleys and autocrosses.I will never autocross in a large field of cars again.Standing around all day is boring.

The reason for poor 0-60/0-130 times was mostly due to a MASSIVE headwind coming down the drag straightaway. You'll notice that most cars had much slower than average times for this test, except those with AWD and too much HP.
