First wave!
First wave!
Finally! It took more than 3,000 miles, but a fine looking chap in a cap -- who I will assume from the license plate is named Matthew -- waved to me on the 133 heading into Laguna Beach in SoCal.
Thanks Matthew. And great looking LB/W with stripes MINI, if you are out there.

I got an 'Unofficial' MINI Wave the day we brought Molly home. We stopped at Burgerville in Vanc. and as I was leaving I noticedd an older lady, looked like she was with her Daughter, she was looking @T Molly!! She WAVED!!
I did the polite MINI thing...and WAVED back and
'd!!
I don't think Hubby was paying attention so I don't have an Official 'Unofficial' MINI Wave Badge.

I remember my first wave. I was so excited! I had only been driving my MINI for about 3 weeks, but it was the best feeling in the world. I personally love to pull up next to a MINI on the road and wait till they see me to wave. One woman on the freeway was so surprised and excited to see me waving that she waved back for like a minute!
When my Dad and I are on the road in our MINIs, we like to do the turn signal thing, going back and forth from right to left turn signals. It's kinda fun and I can only wonder what the other drivers on the road are thinking.

Many waves and many non-responses the first 5 weeks of ownership. The last was a gorgeous chili red with a driver ON A CELL PHONE!
I still haven't met the other three owners living within a six block radius of me.
I suppose it takes all types.
I wish it didn't.

I was on the same Freeway going in the same direction as a Silver '06? MC and it seemed like they were just trying to avoid me. I tried to get along side, but was always a nose behind, then the lane changing began AND I wasn't the one doing the lane changing!!
s2000 and 350z owners (cuz there are so many Zs?) are enthusiastic as well.
Yeah, I don't really wave to all of the Suburban owners out there when I'm in my other car.
PS: The suburban is for hauling the dog around. It only comes out on trips where Madison needs to go somewhere. The black interior on my car and Madison's Blonde fur don't really mesh well. I don't like picking Blonde hairs out of the carpet for hours on end...

It's sad. But, I'll keep trying.
I wave. I sometimes drive my other car and forget. People just stare......
I also own a LBC (Little British Car), an MGB in fact and we tend to wave to all other LBCs and flash our lights.
People on cell phones while driving don't even get the pleasure of my wave.

In my first week with my mini, I've been waving to all the minis I see, even those going the other direction on the freeway, lol. No waves back, but at only 9 days and ~700 miles, I suppose I shouldn't feel bad -- yet!
a nice MINI wave today at our local military base, a Sparkling Silver MCS driven by a female soldier. I've seen other MINIs on post, but never manned (or womaned) so until today I didn't know if soldiers would be too serious to acknowledge civilian MINI enthusiasts. One wasn't and it made our day.
It's nice to know 'the wave' is still attempted. I will wave but only if they look at me, or if I actually see them wave. Most people nowadays who drive MINIs are 'too busy' looking ahead.

I got my second official wave, at 6:45 this morning! It came from a CR/W [non S] with bonnet stripes and Union Jack side mirrors. I'm pretty sure it was an R53 -- lending evidence that more recent buyers are less likely to wave?
Ahh! I hope not, I'm looking foward to the waves....I'm getting my MINI delivered tomorrow, and I always see a purple MC on my way home to work, now I feel that I will be able to wave to her!
Got my first wave today! Cruising along the 405 this morning, found myself behind a SS MCS, and ahead of a fairly tricked out CR MC. I was grinning to myself about how we must look to non-MINI owners, when the CR gunned it, came up alongside me, rolled down his window and waved. Traffic slowed in his lane then, but when he caught back up to me he waved again, and gave me a thumbs up, with his arm all the way out the window. I waved back, of course, both times. Had me grinning like a fool the rest of the morning.
