New 2008 JCW MCS

Hi. I plan (hope) to buy a new 2008 JCW MCS late spring, early summer. I thought I read or overheard in general talk that instead of having to buy one "a la carte" with the dealer doing most of the installation, that you will be able to buy one that either will be "factory" assembled and/or assembled at point of entry.

I have been very satisfied with the routine maintenance work done by Mini of Towson in Maryland. However, I don't know how experienced they are when it comes to "JCW fabrications". Wish there was a way to find out which dealership does the most/best "complete" JCW installations. (I am interested in not only the tuning kit and the other JCW performance goodies, but also the exterior mods like the aero kit, etc.)
  1. Can anyone confirm/deny that the 2008 JCW kits will be installed or partially installed by the POE people?
  2. Is there any way to find out how much of the JCW part offerings are actually factory installed versus dealer installed?
Many thanks in advance for any info you can share!

Happy & Safe motoring...

-Bruce

The stage 2 JCW (about 220 hp) will have all the drivetrain modifications from the factory. The stage 1 JCW (about 190 hp) is a dealer installed kit that includes new intake, exhaust, engine reflash. Its important to note that other JCW accessories such as the aero kit and suspension are NOT factory installed, even on the stage 2 JCW. If you need more info, just read the articles on motoringfile.com.

I talked to the closest dealer to me last Saturday, and they had NO idea about the 08 JCW model. They could not tell me a price or what items are on it as standard. Any one have any info on this yet?

Check out the UK JCW website. It list all the standard and optional equipment. Also has a config., but is really slow. As for price, the R56 base will be $28,500.00. I may be a little off, but the pricing is available if you look around. Google.

check motoringfile, especiall this:http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/03/...nyc-auto-show/. US base prices have been posted there along w/ the press release. dealers usually don't know jack even tho i've found some mini sales people to be a bit better trained. you should be able to pre-order already

Roaduscarnivorous & MiniEnvy - many thanks for the links & info. I spent my lunch hour mulling over the websites and now have a much better idea of whats what. I may just have to drive out to a Mini dealership and see what kind of info they know and/or are willing to share, if any?!

Thanks again,

BRT356

Is the stage 2 (220hp) another car? I know there is a JCW MCS that has 207hp or 208hp.

Yes, it's a factory build only car with a completely revised engine and transmission and 211hp, which is probably a conservative estimate. Whisper it though but you'll have to pay extra for the aero kit and suspension .
