Some travel info: I40 in Knoxville closes on May 1

Just a bit of a heads up:

A section of I40 through downtown Knoxville closes at midnight on April 30th. It will remain closed for 14 months. Traffic coming from the east will bypass onto I640. Traffic heading east (i.e. those coming from 129 toward I75 to go home) can either take I640 to I75 or continue on I40 to I275 to I75.

You can read more here on the TDOT site:

http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/smartfix/jwp/default.asp

It shouldn't be much of a factor for those heading home on Sunday but anyone coming in on Thursday or Friday might find it a bit of a hassle, as we natives will not have had time to adjust.

You should try I-40 from Ashville to Winston-Salem. Going home after the 05 dragon the vibration from the road caused a piece of windshield trim to come loose and flop around in the wind.
