Drivetrain how warranty are voided?
Had a question on warranty side, If I would to put on Headers, intake, and after market spark plug wires would this void my warranty???? I already have the JWC kit on, and just wanted to add a little bit more purk to it, any info at all you can give will be great, so far everyone on MCO has been great answering all my questions. Horay horay for MCO!
To what I know of, your intake should be fine. Warranty is a funny thing. Something needs to go wrong, then they have to be able to prove that the error was related to your modification, only then can they void your warranty. Its not once you do a mod then your whole warranty is gone.
Also differs dealer to dealer.
Hope this helps.

Ok so what you are saying is say I put springs on the car, and something goes wrong and they find out its because of the springs. Then my Warranty is void, just on that part, (and I it would come out of my pocket to get it fix) that doesn't mean whole entire warranty on the car is not voided forever is it?? like engine warranty? sorry just want to make things clear on my end, I am a worry wort.
You should always check with your dealer about what might constitute voiding of warranty. In general you don't void the entire car's warranty unless you do something really different like chop the car in half and weld it all back together as a limo or armored car.
Some dealers allow or even do upgrades. The warranty on the upgrade would superseceed the MINI warranty. For example if I add the London Stainless header with 27 year warranty then the old header is replaced and if there is a problem with the new header then I would see London Stainless. Now if there was a problem with the O2 sensor or the exhaust system or if the engine started to have more trouble then I would have to decide to put the stock part back on and see if the problem corrected itself and the new header was to blame or not. If the old header replacement didn't fix the problem then I would put the car back to stock as possible and have it evaluated by the dealer to see if there was something going on that would be a different defective part covered under warranty.
If you change out suspension then you void suspension and tires/wheel warranty.
If you change intake- generally that is not a big deal.
Headers void the exhaust warranty, etc.
Just be careful about what sort of parts you add and how far out from stock settings you want to go. When upgrading wheels be careful not to go too out of range on the wheel offsets (i.e. using a wheel with a smaller et such as negative 38mm- stock range is closer to -44 to 48mm)
