I ordered my Clubman S today, but I dislike my color choices. I really wanted a jet black Clubman and convinced myself that the Astro is black. After seeing two in separate light, one very bright and one dark, it is clearly dark blue. I wish Mini would have made a true black, oh well I digress.

Before leaving, my MA showed me a laser blue in the shop and I loved the color. So after spending close to 3, o.k. 4 hours on the mini configurator I have decided on the Laser Blue with a Black top and the black sports strip.

I also love the HC interior, I know that color would look great with a silver roof. Just a little worried about all the black on the car. Any opinions?

hmm ... not sure about the HC interior with the Laser Blue ... could be a sleeper, just can't picture it ... too many colors in and out.

The Astro Black is an awesome color though. I would stick with that if you want HC. Its a more classy combo ... Laser Blue exudes a more sporty feel.

 

Kind of what I'm feeling also, most likely I will go with pacific blue or just stick with the standard grey/black.

I agree that Astro is a great color, it's just does not look like black. It looks like a very dark navy blue to me. I was in the local Mini service area and they where working on a couple of 02 Jet Black's, beautiful color.

 

you're right in different light it does give off a dark blue hue, but it looks awesome at night and has great sparkles/flakes in the paint.

However I think it looks better on the Coupes, doesn't really work for me on the Clubman ... it doesn't highlight its shape.
If I was getting a Coupe AB would be my first choice.

not sure if you are new to MINI or not and if you have owned a bright colored car before ... but Laser Blue will ALWAYS stick out in a mass of dull colored cars ... be prepared for lots of attention ALL THE TIME. which is great however sometimes you might want to blend into the background, if you know what I mean

this is why I went from a Chili Red MC to a Hot Chocolate Club ...

anyway ... rambling ... colors are such personal things ... go with your gut and whichever color punches you in it

 

Maybe since it's a metallic color, it wasn't meant to be a true black. I think what you were going for is a Classic look on the MINI which have flat colors. The non-metallic color such as Pepper White, Mellow Yellow, or Chili Red gives you a more saturated hue without the different shades in varying environments. But I really like Astro Black. It actually does mimic the sky at night, which isn't completely black due to the glow of the milky way.

Laser Blue. Black Roof. Sports Stripes. Awesome combo.

I have Laser Blue/Body Color Roof with Hot Chocolate Interior. One of the sales people at the MINI dealership where I bought said she had never seen that combo and she really liked it alot. If I can get some photos I will post them. I was having some doubts, but I think I made an excellent choice. The interior is hot chocolate, creme color line, english oak with english oak steering wheel.

Just a note to Astro black haters out there. It is gone in 2009. No non metalic black, but a return to the silvery Cosmos Black of 2002-2004

 

Clubmanbound, did you get your Mini from Richmond ? If so I think I saw it a few weeks ago when I drove down from NoVa. I was attempting to see all the Laser Blue's in different color schemes. It was a beauty if it was yours. (I ordered a las blue with silver roof myself).

 

Where are you getting your info? What else can we expect for color changes?

My wife loved the hot choc interior. It is wat initially drew her to a Clubman. She was all set to start going for a full HC clubman. Then she started messing with the configurator and all the checkered patterns. Ended up with a Laser Blue, black roof only because she was not sold on the silver rear halo. She suprised me by going for bonnect stripes, a checkered roof, cloth and interior trim. Not gonna be a stealth MINI, fer sure.

 

Also, BR Green and Chili Red are being replaced with Lime Green and Citrus Orange....Yuck

 

I read that, too... can't remember where, but I did notice, when I did my double-take, that the piece had a banner headline "April 1 Article". Almost fooled me.

 

Same story had Sparkling Silver going away, don't remember the replacement but sure it was another citrus color...Said they wanted to perk up the color line....Sounds like the VW Beetle Guy is making the decisions..

 

I can wait to see the citrus orange color. IMHO, the mini colors are a bit boring. (if it wasn't an april fools joke)

 

Photos would be fantastic and much appreciated. I think the LB solid body color with the HC would look great, very contemporary. I just worry about the black roof throwing off the mojo.

 

it was an April Fool's joke ... but some limited edition colors would be nice to see again.
