How to save black marker autographs under hood?

How to save black marker autographs under hood?
I picked up my new Clubman yesterday and as I posted on another thread with photos, to my amazement and surprise, the people that built the car at the Oxford plant all signed the underneath of the hood with what looks like a black sharpie. This is a real special part of the car and I want to do what I can to protect it from the heat and other elements under the hood. Should I have it clear-coated? Any suggestions on how to keep this special part of the car from deteriorating or fading?
Thanks.

Clear Rustoleum, Home Depot should carry it on a regular basis....( Im a gas fitter and thats what i use over copper when i write "natural gas" on the line) once it's dry you would never know that there is anything over it...

Here is a link to the stuff I'm talking about: http://www.epinions.com/content_87125560964

That is so cool!

Why is there no under-hood insulation?

That would have been so cool if mine were signed by the people who built it, congrats, I am very jealous of such a cool bonnet, I hope you enjoy your very special MINI! Have you thought about bringing the car to a body shop have them shoot a few layers of clear coat on the underside?

The signatures are way too cool, I think it would add a enormous amount of sentimental value to the MINI itself, makes it a very unique MINI! Congrats once again!

Here is a picture from the other thread. Very cool Google some of those names and see what you get.

I'm sure any high heat clear coat would work. But why isn't there a liner? I would worry about heat affecting the paint on the top of the bonnet over time.

I think with the 07s and up they eliminated the liner...mine doesn't have any...there is only one spot that gets hot (right over head) when driving hard, but it cools down super fast

What about clear bra?? Like what you'd put on your bumper? Not sure how it'd work, but a thought!

I like the clear coat idea. If you're worried about heat discoloration, possibly one of those M7 Aerogel blankets over the head might work.

I wonder what the special occasion was, that caused the sigs? Way cool.

I think in the other thread it said his wife called the plant and asked the to do it. That is so cool!! Very rare (i guess you could call it that) mini indeed.
