Interior/Exterior Friendly MINI-Fini cupholder Service announcement
it looks the same. install the clamp upside down and the cupholder swings freely (bad!!). install it properly and it has a ratcheting mechanism (good).
Thanks to John @ MINI Fini for clarifying. This is my second one (don't ask) and was quite disappointed that it didn't ratchet like the old one. Not the case....pilot error I assure you
Note to all - directions are useful and if you don't care to read them, at least install if in the daylight instead of in a dark garage while you have the dash and downtubes apart to do a stereo (like me).

MUCH! I knew from our cabrio that the stock one was useless. took it off and sold it for more than the MINI-FINI costs. It's so good I think MINI is selling them now...maybe I'm remembering that wrong though.
My used MINI came with the MiniFini cup holder. I thought I wanted the OEM one, bought and installed one; a few months later I took it out and went back to the MiniFini one. I like the lower mount of the MiniFini and the way it ratchets. My neighbor had a drink spill from her OEM one into the radio! Now her radio buttons stick.
I have two and they're great... except I take them out for car shows, cause they're not glamorous and add clutter... but fantastically practical.
Nice job on your modded install.
