Fake MINIs - stupidity or flattery?

Ever since I got my '08 MINI in March I've been hearing from my sister about the sightings of a fake MINI roaming the streets around my house in Detroit area. (For local guys it was on M59 in Utica) Well today I spoted the bastard, I was driving by when I saw a car matching the description. Had to pull a U-turn and double back for a picture cause I know you guys will get a kick out of this one

I belive it's a Chevrolet Aveo with a HUGE "MINI Cooper" logo
I think imitation is the best form of flattery, not that it makes the owner of that cheap imitation any smarter in my eyes

Can I not vote for either "stupidity" or "flattery" and go for a write in vote of "pathetic" ?

I would understand if it said "My Other Car is a MINI Cooper" but that is just ridiculous!

where about's in Utica was that taken? I'm originally from that area. Near Canal Rd. Many years ago though. Went to Sterling Jr. High.

Tell him to duct tape a couple of beer cans under the bumper and he can add an "S" to the rear window. And if he paints the calipers....

Since I'm new to Minis, is this a common occurance? Why would anyone do something like that?

My other driver is an H2 and I've seen a few vehicles attempt to "look" alike such as those fiberglass bodies on Jeeps but I've never seen anyone just throw some emblems on the body..... (however, I have seen hybrid emblems on an H2 )

Guess now that I own a Mini (well, actually two for now ) I'll be spotting more fakes....

Get over it already PGT!

As far as the fake, did it have checked mirrors or bonnet stripes at least?
