Deer and MINIs

I was wondering if there have been any studies done by deer hunters as to using new car scent to attract deer? It seems to be a wonderful manmade lure... I don't think I have ever had this many near misses!!!! About 15 in the past 2 weeks.

That being said, I have heard rumors of vast deer farms in far off lands owned by the major insruance companies. "They" say strange flying machines drop off tens of thousands of deer late at night all over the country...

I've got a solution for you...

I'll bring you some of my Camo gear that I wear when I'm deer hunting.

If it works as well for you as it does for me, you'll be lucky if you see any
deer when your wearing it <g>.

Works equally well for squirrels and turkeys..... Have seen a bear or two
though <g>.

I discovered today that our MINI attracts creatures too.

I even caught him licking the grill, strange boy.

Our hill country drive today didn't yield any roadkill, but our backyard gets frequent visitors in the form of possums, skunks, and racoons. Hopefully they'll steer clear of our MINI.

Get used to it....

Deer population is growing like crazy: clicky and clicky

Stay off the roads at certain times of day, months of year: clicky and clicky

Ummm, sorry to say, you appear to live in the worst state possible for deer: clicky

Deer are my greatest fear of injury and death.... I've hit five, 3 on motorcycle.

Hunt them..... order venison at restaurants...... buy deer skin gloves.... dumb forest kamikazees!

Do those deer (repelling) whistles that you attach to your bumper really work?

Deer whistles

I don't like the whistles becuase they they get the deer moving ahead of you. I prefer them frozen by the lights on the side of the road....

Now that you mention it....I've had more near misses with deer since I got my Mini too!! One was standing in the road, ran off the road, and then ran back into the road almost running into my Mini (as opposed to my Mini running into it). I've obviously had near-misses with deer before (hey, I live in WV too...and I grew up in southeastern Ohio, which isn't much better) but the deer certainly seem to love the Minis!

As for other animals....there are a couple of cats that hang out around my office and they like to sleep under my Mini more than the other cars in the parking lot. I also keep finding cat prints on the bonnet.....which is not making me happy!

Maybe it's just animal instinct to seek out the best cars!

No. Several studies have been conducted and none on them concluded the whistles help at all.
