R50/53 Burning Rubber
Burning Rubber
My 06 MCSa (new to me about 3 weeks) has a burning rubber smell when I park it in the garage. There is a nice corner about 1/4 mile from home that i tend to jump on, when I pull Mojo (mini's name) into the garage the rubber smell is pretty strong. I don't believe I am squeaking the tires on this corner.
I do not notice any belt squeak either.
anyone have an idea what I am lighting up.

How hot are the surfaces of your tires? I doubt it is them. Check under the hood around your coolent resevoir, is there any spilled on the outside of the tank or on the header heat sheild?
That is the only thing I've had that smells a bit like burning rubber.

i tent to drive mine a bit crazy sometimes on the way home... and when i park it in the garage i cant tell if its clutch, tires or something burning.. but its normal i think.. i have a 05.. and with all the mods on it.. its still normal ever since i bought the car.....
burning Rubber
Road surface is cold at times slightly wet. One thing that does happen with the brisk acel is a marked hesitation before Mojo gets with it. This hestitation can occur when the engine is cool or hot but happens most usually with acel mostly on a turn even a slight turn. I tried the near home turn with the ASC off and the hesitation was not there that time (only tried it once) but the rubber smell was there. I don't know if the hesitation is somehow related to the rubber smell.....
