R50/53 Interior door panel removal
i know your looking for help. But there is also a pic tutorial on interior/exterior forums. Search for it on there you will find it. and the 05+ you need to get a plastic butter knife and tape it down to not scratch the plastic and slide it between the side armrest to press down the clip to take it off to get to the next screw.
2003 MINI door panel removal
I have a 2003 MINI and need to replace the door lock motor. I understand most of the removal of the door panel, the reflector I've heard is easly broken and looking for the trick of the trade on removal with out breaking it. I saw one on line and apears to only have 3 locking tabs and none at the bottom. The other thing is not scratching the door panel. I thought of just drilling a hole in the reflector to gain access to the trim screw and pushing the tab from the under side then just replace the reflector.
Does anyone know how to disassemble the panel its self on an R53. I have two extra door panels and i want to get the silver plastic pieces off so that i can vinyl wrap them white but it looks like they have melted plastic clips. If anyone knows how to get these off it would be awesome.

The only way i could figure it out would be to drill out the plastic rivets and then find a new way to attach them. Tried to the same thing to plasti dip them. Decided it was easier to tape them off before painting.
I found this YouTube video a few days ago:

There's also a video for a 2011 - which I believe would be applicable to all Gen 2s:

I've been wanting to replace the scratched oval Piano black trim on my 2007 MCS. The trim is heat-bonded to the door panel and has to be removed and the new piece reheated (welded) into place. Doesn't sound too difficult, but the trim pieces are pricing at more than $100 each (!) on RealOEM.com: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...77&hg=51&fg=50

Taping them off took a lot of time doesn't seem to stick very well to the plastic. I used plasti-dip rubber coating so there was no prep other than cleaning them up. Instinct tells me a fine grit sand paper and high quality primer but i would wait for someone else to chime in with more experience painting interior parts. Heads up painting the inside of those plastic parts is a total pain You'll like the look, getting rid of all that factory grey was a nice change.
