Well alright he wants to joey mod his head lights;(paint the inside of the light a certain color.) As to help you out this is in the wrong section. But i can help you out still. Go to modification and interior/exterior forum and search for joey mod or eddie mod. they are the same but two diff. techniques. joey(bake the headlight) eddie (dremel a small peice and pry open with a chisel.) Hope this helps you out.

Ok so i have read all the forums...all of them. but like all of them say there is still no how too on many of the steps. So once you have the whole light housing out of the car and you have the washer unit removed and the outer ring, it still leaves you with the problem of the wires and bs in the housing (black) behind the chrome. I am just wondering if there is a secret method of getting the fixtures and wires out of this housing before you put it into the oven.

I don't think you need to worry about the wires. You're only baking it at like 200 degrees right? Thats not very hot.

Well what about the balast? i really dont want to screw anything up. i know that the engine bay prob gets that hot, but if its hot enough to melt the rubber it seems like its hot enough to melt some of the insulation on the wiring or at least melt the solder in the ballast circuit board.

All I removed from mine was the bulbs. All it did was loosen the sealant (which isn't rubber), the whole thing really wasn't even that hot when I took it back out. Keep in mind this was on an R56, but it shouldn't be much different for an R53. Hopefully someone else will chime in whose done it on an R53 with xenons though.
