I seem to recall seeing comments that the alloy patina style dash was either difficult to paint or not advised as a starting place for doing a color match paint job with one's cars exterior color. I have a 03, 5-piece alloy patina dash and wanted to paint it chili red. Before I start down this path, I need to know:
(1) is it true that you cannot paint over the alloy patina and I am out of luck
(2) it is not true and you can paint over the alloy patina
(3) it is true but there is a work around through proper surface preparation
(4) if (3), then what is is the prep method
