Bad Gas Mileage

I have been searching and reading I cant seem to find a good answer.
I am getting 19.3 using Premier 93 Octane.
I am doing about 70/30, hwy/city.
I drive average. not too fast, not too slow.

Not sure if any of this is related but:
*if feels like it hesitates on some days and not on others.
*there is a lot black on the tail pipes.
*Some days it feels really fast and others it doesnt.

The only answer I have found is to reset the ECU.
Is this the best option?

BTW, she has 22,000 miles on her.

Thanks for any help!
Ty

You may want to check your ignition system and make sure your spark plug wires aren't loose and that the connections on the ignition are not corroded.

Funny you should mention.
That is the only thing I have done!
I am pulling the plugs tomorrow to see how they look.

Thanks

Ok, I couldnt wait til tomorrow.
I just pulled all 4 plugs and they look fine.
Light gray, nothing fouled.

They say NGK BMW R5 and have 4 tongues instead of one. Normal?

Thanks
Ty

the 4 pronged plug is normal. That's what mine had - to my surprise.

Your still under a maintenance plan, aren't you? Straight to the dealer I would go, let them do all the trouble shooting, No need to get your hands all dirty, unless you are in to tinkering, .

New problem.
Today after driving for about half an hour, I came up to a stop sign.
I turned left up a rather steep hill and when I shifted into 2nd and let the clutch out, she completely bogged down. No power at all.
I put the clutch back in, gave it some gas, then when I let the clutch back out, everything seemed fine.

The dealership is 2 hours away but it looks like it is time for a trip.

For piece of mind, nothing beats the dealer, you should use that warranty while you have it.
