R50/53 Bad rims?

Bad rims?

Our 02' coupe has had a problem with a leaking rim since we put new tires on last year. They're the run flats, difficult to work with, for sure, but after removing the tire a few times and sealing it we found out we had some rust on the rim, so it looks like a new wheel is needed. Two questions:

1) has anyone had any similar experiences?
2) any recommendations for wheels? They're the white, 8 section rims, the best price I've found is $178, but haven't checked Mini yet. But my guess is that it would be higher.

How bad is the rust? I would look at prices for getting the wheel fixed before buying a new one.

White 8 section Rims? Are they MINI OEM Rims? Sounds like maybe S-Lites? I don't remember how many spokes those have . Are you sure the rim isn't bent?

The rims are factory stock to the best of my knowldge and they do not appear to be bent. The rust is not bad, just enough to cause an incomplete seal.

all OEM wheels are aluminum alloy, where's the rust coming from?

The rust is on the inside lip, just enough to cause an incomplete seal.
