Ideas/Suggestions

Hello everyone. I have enjoyed having my MINI way too much for the past month and have already put on a 19mm rear sway bar, M7 strut tower reinforcement brackets and some 16" Rota Slipstreams. What do you all think would be the next areas to look into for increasing the good times motoring and why? Here's a recent picture of my R50. The co-pilot that's seen through the tinted window isn't a huge fan of lots of money going to the MINI so more value or "bang for the buck" suggestions are best.

For an r50, theres not much you can do as far as straight line performance, unless youre willing to shell out the big bucks. However, if you like intake sound, a CAI can be had for relatively cheap. Handling wise, the rear sway bar definitely has the biggest effect. From there I would look at stiffer springs to give it a more responsive feel, and maybe a front strut tower brace to increase rigidity a bit. Other than that, what youve got is a nice package, the mini is a very nice handling car from the get-go! Hope that helped!

Polyeurithane engine mounts.

Steering repsonce is also improved, as is lateral grip and turn in. This makes sence because the engine has a lot of mass and inertia. Gone are the days when the engine moved on its mounts and countered the car's momentum. Everything is inline and acts as one.

If you have any doubts about doing this, you will not regret it.

Instalation only took 3 hours. Have a rubber mallet ready as well as some silcone spray lubricant. Also, a jack for holding the engine/alignement purposes when working on the transmission mount.

These bushing mounts are a great bang for the buck mod, only $75 for them all.

For less than $50, try the OEM Cabrio diagonal frame braces up front. They are a nice improvement in chassis rigidity and handling.

I'm thinking I like the idea of springs or stabilizing items like the poly mounts or some undermounted stress bars.

Do the cabrio frame braces really do anything? If they do that would be something easy and cheap.

How about engine dampeners?
