R55 Where to Get the Donut Spare Tire
Where to Get the Donut Spare Tire
I know the Clubman can fit a spare tire in the back, but where should I buy it. Dealer? Also, what is the cost? I am thinking to swap out the runflat so I think I need that option.
Thanks
Thanks
I ordered one from Classic Mini for around $140.00 for the wheel with tire mounted. You can order a wheel only, get a tire from somewhere else and get it mounted, but that seemed like too much work for me. I would check your dealer's price. If they are too high, call Classic Mini and see what they are selling them for.
Also, check out http://www.njbaglady.com/ if you want a cool bag to carry it in.

I know that NJ Bag Lady - and she is not only a wonderful person who puts together great MINI runs, but she's also a super seamstress. She made me the most wonderful cargo cover (from a special woven fabric that is made up of license plate images) for the back of my cooper when the seats are down with attachments to the head rests, and more. She does great work!

Price of wheel and tire
At my dealer the price of the wheel was $75 and the tire was $175. Then there would have to be a charge to mount the tire on the rim.
I think their pricing is straight MSRP.
A price of $140 for the whole thing is a bargain.

Also, be aware the space saver spare will not fit over the front brakes on an R56 MCS. It will fit over the rear only.

MiniMania has one that I believe is designed to fit in the hole. It's at http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/NM.../InvDetail.cfm
Here is the link. They are a dealership in Ohio. Very helpful anytime I have called them. I can't remember if they gave me a discount for being a NAM member, but you might mention it.

I have heard that also. Great idea. Have you fit it over the brakes? Does it fit over the front or just the back?
Spare Me !
Good idea to find a foreign car auto wrecker and locate one there. Probably the controlling information is the bolt pattern is 4 x 100; but here's the info from Mini Mania for the tire specs/size:
For 2002 - 2006 MINIs with the JCW Big Brake Upgrade, or 2007+ MINI Cooper S Hardtops, this spare will need to go on the rears due to larger front brake rotors. (Lifting the MINI at the front jack points will raise the entire side of the car.) Fits the 2007-2008 MINI Convertibles and 2007+ MINI Cooper Hardtops in front and rear.
If you have the Limited Slip Differential option on your MINI, put the compact spare on the rear.
If your MINI did not come with tools to change a tire, see NMA7688.
Recommended 'cold' inflation pressure: 60 psi
Lug Bolts torque:
2002 - 2006 All Models (to 7/11/2006): 88.5 ft lbs
2007 Convertibles (from 7/11/2006): 103.3 ft lbs
2007 Coupes (from 7/12/2006): 103.3 ft lbs
Specifications: Sidewall Height: 3.17"
Section Width: 4.53"
Overall Diameter: 21.34"
Circumference: 67.04"
Revs per mile: 974.70
Weight: Approx. 5 lbs.
If you can't find one at the wreckers; or MINI Mania's price is too steep, you can email Classic MINI Parts at bmwparts@classicautocampus.com They're in Mentor, Ohio about 35 miles east of Cleveland. THey're open Saturdays too.
Or you can call 1 800 388-1098, Ask for BMW when the attendant answers; and then when the BMW attendant answers, ask for Parts.
You can talk to Brian or Jayson; or Steve the Parts Manager. They're all knowledgable; and yes, you get 20% off MSRP as a NAM Forum member.
I buy ALL my MINI parts there. At 20% off, no sales tax, they are way cheaper than the local dealer, even with the shipping!

I have not fit it yet ...it lines up bolt hole wise to another rim ...but I read the mini info posted figuring to swap it to the rear and put the "good" tires up front
