My own intake/filter design...Works great!

It feels like I have better performance than my previous intake, plus it sounds really good at full throttle. I'd love to put the photo on this post, but it won't cooperate. I do have it on my gallery: /gallery/showphoto.php/photo/63106/ppuser/18884 -Jeffy.

What are you using for a filter? It looks like a piece of steel wool.

Are you doing anything to isolate the intake from the hot air in the engine compartment? Hard to tell from that one picture.

It looks like a funnel with chicken wire over it. Where did you get it from, ive never seen that shape...

The design itself doesn't look too bad, but it looks like you don't have a heatshield to stop the hot air from being sucked in.

I noticed that you did seem to have put something in to stop the hot air coming from below (correct me if I'm wrong, it looks that way in the picture), but you should also try to put a heatshield around the entire intake.

Also, make sure you use a good filter to keep all the filth out.

Kind regards

Der Abt

Isn't this the same guy that wanted to by that resistor to increase his HP?

The filter material is aircraft grade and similar to K&N's. The heat shield under it is aluminum with fiberglass sheet on it. It's a more air design rather than a cold air one. It outperforms the last aftermarket intake I had, which is good, because even that one was better than stock. I'm especially happy about this because I made it myself- and it's wash and re-use like K&N. -Jeffy.

If there proves to be enough interest I'll do a "how to"

I'd really like one of the producers of air intake systems to check this out so people could just buy one. The bell-shaped entrance is possibly the best way to gather in air with minimal turbulence, with the added feature of good sound. I think everyone enjoys a sporting noise when they get on the gas. -Jeffy.

Do you like this kind of music?

Not louder, but louder than the stock maze because it is shaped somewhat like a megaphone, so some sound. Now that my computer has adapted to this change, the car is definately faster. It seems hard to believe that I could get this much more performance from an intake, but I'll take it! I should have my wife drive it to see what she thinks of the sound, since she's the kind that likes a quiet engine, unless it makes good music. I think she'll like it, let me go ask... -Jeffy.
