Interest in Ireland Engineering fixed camber plates to factory spec? Please read!
Hi,
I am trying to get Jeff over at Ireland Engineering www.bmw2002.com to make a few sets of his fixed camber plates to factory spec.I think it would be great to have these to help against mushrooming & for the lowered Mini owners that would not like to have so much negative camber but would love to have that piece in mind that they are fighting against shrooming or evan the dreaded ripped upper strut mount!
Please show your interest in this thread so I can show him if they are made they will be bought!!!
Thanks for your time, help & patience.

With factory spec camber plates we would be hitting 2 birds with 1 stone.Fixxing shrooming & not ripping rubber mounts.
Thanks for the question & please members post if your interested.

Where were you a month ago before I ordered 5 sets of these? Mainly for mushroom fixing/prevention...
I just fixed a car this past Saturday with some of the worst mushrooming I've seen yet. The outline of the inner part of the strut bushing had been embossed into the tower. The top plate of the mount (the part with the studs) was bent like folded paper. I'll have to dig them out of the trash and take some pics. They were replaced with the new OEM mounts we had on hand and reinforced with Craven tower defenders.

Ireland Engineering fixed camber plates
In addition to mushrooming protection you get better steering input and improved tire wear.
Hope this helps...

This is why we need these for members that "Do not want extra camber" & would like to fight the "Shrooming & ripped rubber mounts".
I am trying as I type to get Jeff to do these.

As of now with my H&R coilover set up the way I like.I am at -1.3 camber up front in no way shape or form do I need another -1.25 degrees of camber at all on a street daily driven mini.
Thats why I am trying to get factory spec made ones.
Think outside of the box.

I just read your last posr.....so you already have 1.3 neg camber. You can always go back to stock camber and put on the fixed camber plates and then you would be back where you are.

But to get back to stock camber I would have to put my stock sport suspension back on.I like my H&R's & the way SilverBullet sits.I just would like to have a better option for a upper strut mount.
Also I have M7 STP's & a STB.Both great products but I would like to have the added bonus of the solid thicker plates.
I evan have a Dinan STB that is hanging on my wall, lol
Please I am not trying to argue or change your mind.I know there are a few other members just like me that would like to have the option to upgrade there factory upper strut mount with a better design.

Preventing mushrooming and tearing strut mounts is an admirable cause. However, if you do end up obtaining stock settings camber plates you might not get what you want. The left and right sides of the car might not match settings. The right could be -1.07 and the left could be -1.29 or something. If you were to get adjustable plates, you could set both sides exactly the same. Plus have the ability to add camber if you want to experiment later.
My guess is that if you truly have -1.3 degrees of camber, there is something bent in your front suspension and you would get stock camber by just fixing it.

I have looked into ajustable camber plates & I evan bought H-sport camber plates only to sell them.I do not want alot of extra rode noise in the car.I also don't need alot of ajustment.I am looking for a product that is to factory spec & to my needs.
This post was to see if there are other members just like me needing a new product that would help them & there Mini out.

I know...but lowering the front suspension doesn't change the camber much if at all.....especially not 1.3 degrees. I'm lowered more than 2.5" up front and the camber barely changed at all (until i adjusted my camber plates, of course). The front is not like the rear. When you lower the rear, the camber changes a noticable amount....this isn't true of the front.

Not a thing is bent & I am the 2nd owner of SilverBullet.I have a good friend that put Silverbullet up on a rack to check what he is sitting at for camber.I was going to buy the Ireland fixed plates but they are not the right ones for me.I need factory spec ones.So I wrote Jeff to see what he had or if he could make a 1 off set.I have not heard back from him as of yet.I started this thread to show if there was interest in them he would hopefully make a few sets.
I for one would buy it!

I'm just trying to help out....cause I think it's gonna be hard to find anyone that needs fixed plates that induce 1.3 degrees of positive camber. Even with coilovers set really low....most people will still have stock spec camber up front....it will be pretty hard to find anyone that needs +1.3 degree fixed camber plates.
I'm still confused as to why you have so much negative camber up front if you don't have camber plates....are your towers already mushroomed? The geometry of the front suspension just doesn't change camber when lowered....so something must have changed to give you -1.3 degrees of camber.

These Would not give you +1.3 degrees of camber. If I am sitting at -1.3 now & I would use a factory spec plate how would it move it from -1.3 to a +1.3 degrees?
Yes I have shrooming now its not major & I am having a local shop build me a 2 plate piece to fix my shrooming this weekend.Like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/mini05s/ Then I will install my M7 STB.
I have the M7 STPlates on order that should be here in 5 days to swap out my M7 STB with.

It wouldn't move YOUR CAR to +1.3 .....but if at the stock location in the top hat, your car is reading -1.3 camber (for whatever reason).....they would need to make you a fixed plate that moved your camber 1.3 degrees back to zero. On any normal MINI (slammed, lowered, or stock ride height), this would leave the car with +1.3 degrees of camber up front.

No they wouldn't have to move anything back to gain positive or 0 camber.I wan't to stay at -1.3 degrees camber.I have achieved this with the factory upper strut mount. So if they were made to factory spec I would stay at -1.3 degrees camber.
