Well after many many hours of flying I am in London and today I went to two MINI dealerships but both were closed. I'll go again on Monday morning.
I saw used MCS for £19,000 which is about $31,000. Loaded but still kinda high in my book, Had packages 1,2,3 and was in great shape- not sure on the miles- few thousand maybe. They call them "Cherished MINIs" instead of used.

Saw only a few MINIs on the road, maybe two. saw a classic red mini 7 near my hotel. Few more days and then off to Scotland- see what I can find there.

Hope I don't get run over. Look Left, Look Right. Everybody jaywalks and ignores the lights. NOBODY has any SUVs- Zero%. Nice. The Smart cars are about half the size of a MINI. Two seats with 4 wheels.

Lots of rain here. Trying to follow the Tour de France. Coverage is better here than in Hawaii !

Ta ta,

Thanks,
For those not initiated by riding the underground here, the gap refers to the space between the train and the place you want to go when you exit the train. Sometimes it is close but sometimes it is large enough to loose a foot. Tons of people so gotta be careful.

I noticed the underground is not to reliable, closed stations, removed trains from the line, delays, etc abound. Some lines worse than other.

I rode all day on the underground today for £2.70 which is about $4.45. Did about 5 trips. Got to see some of London from under the street.

Went to see the lion King last night- very good production. Impressive.
I don't get that in Hawaii.

Cheers.

Minihune,

I lived in the UK for 3 years... London is overpriced with out a doubt. I'm positive if you found a mini shop in the midlands, prices are much more reasonable. If you get a chance, do not miss walking and shopping in Cambridge, en route to scotland. Totally worth it... and if you can rent a mini for some true motoring, do so... My wife and I would just go get lost in the country on weekends, eat at new places, stay at bed and breakfasts when we got tired... It doesn't get any finer.

Enjoy your trip... have a pint of Carlsburg for me.

Ben

To quote Samuel Johnson:

"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
Boswell: Life

you're shipping your mcs to new york. I took delivery in may of my mcs in new york and drove it to sanfran. went camping along the way .did the blue ridge parkway and shot across Texas at 90 miles an hr.Big Bear in california was a blast to drive! It was a good test of the mcs but scared my wife. After 3 weeks and over 5000 miles I shipped the car back to Honolulu.Love to do it again. chili

since we got here it has been all rainy. but yesterday and today for a little during the day it was clear enough.
yesterday I had tea at Kensington garden orangery
and today went to Kew gardens which was there 9 miles from London at the same time the revolutionary war was on.

i hear that london, england area is pretty much cloudy/rainy/gloomy most year round. is that true? or maybe i'm just thinking of the jack the ripper movie where it was basically misty all the time.

btw, who's keeping your mini running? that is, is some lucky person driving your mini weekly or every other week to make sure it'll run when you come home? too bad i never thought of this earlier before you left. i would have volunteered since i'm up in wahiawa 2x/week. well, next time you go, you know who to call.

Out of four days it has rained for three. Some days were partly sunny. Today looks sunny. I'm leaving tonight for Scotland for about 2 weeks. For the weather think of Seattle.

Yes I have a driver for my MCS. My daughter is home and drives it and my friend who owns a BMW 2002 also is helping about once a week is fine. I need to put on my centerline wheels which are sitting at home. Got in the new Zimmerman cross drilled rotors front and rear and will be adding new brake fluid, SS brake lines, and mintex brake pads front and rear.
