"Loading Phonebook..." and "No Network" Message after pairing

I recently had my Verizon Motorola Q replaced under warranty. I have a 07 R56 with Nav and bluetooth. The previous Q worked basically flawlessly in the Mini but this replacement does not. It pairs but the Loading Phonebook message appears and does not go away for roughly 10 minutes, then it states searching for paired phones. However, it is still paired and I can use it as hands free but have to operate via the phone.

Additionally, the mini NAV screen states "No Network" on the lower left, shortly after pairing and the loading phonebook message.

Anyone else seen this before? I am going to have the Verizon store check it out and hopefully I can possbily get a replacement that works. I have spent way too much time with multiple system resets trying to get this to work. Very frustrating when I know it should work.

I know the Bluetooth in the mini is fine as my wife's KRZR works fine.

There's been some other reports of issues with the Q- one message suggested that the phone needed a firmware update.

Was it here on NAM? I could not find, the search function is somewhat limited unless I do not know how to use properly. For the references to Q's I found, they worked well.

Side note, I tried updating my Q but it kept rebooting at the start of the update.

I am curious about anyone that pairs a phone that gets no address book, does it behave just like I described above? If so, it really sucks because I can not even answer an incoming call with the steering wheel or anything.

Well Verizon replaced my phone today, same result Sticks on loading phonebook and states no network.

Anyone else get this message on any phone? Is there any configuration on the phone that is needed possibly?

Yeah, it was here on NAM, but it's tough searching for a single letter since searching here automatically drops words under three letters... IIRC, the post I was thinking of said that they needed a firmware update, and that they left the car with their dealer, but was a bit ambiguous... It could have been the car that needed an update.

Might be worth trying a PM to somebody that did have it working too.

My Mini did something like this when I first paired my Razor phone. Then one day after a long ride, I could see that it somehow magically started to work. Was weird. Here is a list of Mini compatible phones.

Roughly how long or how may pairings did you go through before the address book finally showed up. Also, did you get the same messages as me?

Anyone know what Bluetooth profile the mini uses for this phonebook transfer? This replacement Motorola Q may have a newer update on it and wonderful Verizon may have tweaked bluetooth once again to further there profits. This issue is so annoying since I know it was working before. I will check with dealer to see if I may need any update to car but I think the real issue is with Verizon's config with bluetooth. It's just hard to find people with same exact combo, too many phones out there.

Pairing Phones to Mini

My son paired the phone originally but told me that the Mini wasn't picking up the address book. Son is a computer guru, can do anything. I could make calls using the phone & when it connected, I could speak & hear thru the Mini. I was going to go back to the dealer to have them look at it & even considered getting a newer phone, but then one day when we went for a 3 hour ride, it popped up on the radio screen that we had an address book in the Mini. After that, no problems. Was weird though, cause I had to re-pair the phone everytime I got into the car. My guess was that my location was not good enough or long enough to complete the task. I'm just glad it finally works and it is very automatic. Get in the Mini, turn on the radio/phone & the bluetooth pops up. The bluetooth does drain the battery though, so keep it charging when in the Mini. AND, when you leave the Mini, make sure the bluetooth is off on the phone or you'll run out of juice.

Pairing phones

Have you tried deleting the old phone or all phones from the Mini? I read somewhere you could have 3 phones paired but maybe you should start over & delete the original. Or go for a long ride to the best tower reception where you live.

Before the address book came up, did you get the same message on the screen as me (not sure if you have the NAV)? I do know that mine will eventually change to the screen that states searching for paired phones. Roughly 10 minutes after the loading phone starts. However, even though that screen is displayed, it stays paired with the Q.

I have deleted all phones in the mini and started from scratch, no luck. I am not sure how tower reception has anything to do with this issue. It really seems like a bluetooth configuration / compatibility problem.
