iPod adapter starts the track from beginning each time car stereo is turned off
Every time i turn off the car and wait apprx 2 minutes the last track played starts at the beginning again? I watched the ipod after car is shut off or stereo and at that time the light comes on the ipod with mini symbol and the ipod is reset? Any one have a fix for this. Ipod is formatted for windows using itunes.
Why is this a problem?

Well if you are listening to a single track as a mixed set of music then you are forced to start it all over again. the previous ipod adapter in my mini cooper 2006 would hold the settings. all i want to know if it is supposed to to do this or not. if it is then so be it. poor adapter interface would be correct. the cd player holds its memory by the way.
Mine does the same and it is very annoying. I have been trying lately to see if I turn off the audio unit before I turn off the car if that will make a difference. It seems to with the MP3 CD, but I haven't gotten it to work with the IPOD.
Also, I've noticed that my car does not always (maybe never?) charge my IPOD. Several times I've disconnected it only to see the last red bar.
This may turn out to be the worst $500 I've ever spent.

get that checked out, ipod is supposed to charge while driving and mine does. supposedly if the volume is muted before the car is turned off then it remembers the track position. i read this but have yet to test this. ill post back results.

Especially bad if you're listening to an audiobook or some recorded speech. Mine will start at the last place you left off, but only within so many minutes - I haven't figured out the limit. After that it starts from the beginning.

Our Ipod is formatted for Mac, hope it's not Bill Gates that you should be frustrated with!
I don't think an iPod behaves differently according to format when connected to a 3rd party interface. That interface is just using an API to speak to the iPod. Not sure how the windows format on a totally apple product would be Microsoft's problem, though.
It's not like the iPod is suddenly running Vista.

Mine is also behaving the same way. I have an 08 r55 and If I leave my car and then return within a few minutes, the music picks up exactly where it left off. However, when I am gone for an hour or so, it starts the song from the beginning. Not really the end of the world for me but it does get annoying! Can anyone confirm that this is an issue with the ipod being formatted with windows vs mac? Thanks
I hate that about our 07 interface, its a big (and stupid) step back from the 05 adapter. I started using a Griffin Auto Pilot instead.
The 08 may be different, I'm just about to find out. I probably wouldn't have got the iPod adapter this time if it weren't bundled with the BlueTooth.

- it's the car interface, not the iPod.
