R50/53 40K Dealer Check Up
40K Dealer Check Up
Greetings All,
I'm taking my 05 Mini to the dealer for some leaking power steering fluid issues and annoying dashboard ticks, clicks etc. Anything else you might think I should have them check (TSBs, etc.) while it's still under warranty?
Much obliged.
Best,
T.

they are notorious for a leaky thermostat housing.. it is plastic and leaks like crazy.. you are lucky if yours has not cracked.. check your blue fluid and make sure you are not low..
aren't these great little cars....!!!!

Thanks Guys!
Just took it into Mini of Towson yesterday. They told me the spillage from the power steering reservoir at the fill line is normal and all Minis have that problem. Was told to wipe it down and said the fluid would last a long time before requiring refill. Thermostat housing wasn't cracked. Engine mounts were fine. Rear lower control arms were fine.
Learned my costly BMW/Ipod adapter will not list names of songs for my 05 Cooper. I have a manual stating it should work up to 5 playlists.
Finally silenced the annoying dashboard rattle/creak and wind howling noise at high speed. Rattle came from under center of dash and they added ANYI Creak Kit & insulation pin. Wind noise came from a misaligned driver's side window.
Abnormal wear on right front tire wasn't covered. They explained that the right front pulls the axle therefore it will wear out first. Can't understand why it's only the outer edge that wears. Must be torque steer. Brakes were low but still fine.
Overall very pleased with Mini of Towson's service and professionalism. Ask for Rose.
