that's pretty much the easiest way..you can buy a heat gun rather than using a hair dryer..(it's MUCH hotter) it pretty much makes the vinyl really soft so you can just peel it off. heat guns go for about $20? more or less
good luck and use a clay bar to take off the build up of either glue or other particles around the edges of the checkers?
assuming you have the individual ones.

Great thanks! I will pick up a heat gun. I've never used a clay bar. Is it easy to use one?

The heat gun works well, make sure you move it around, don't let is blast in one place. Might want to use it on low, and get the vinyl warm, and then pull a little. As it heats it should release from the top.

Clay bars can be found any where. I personally like "griots" and their speed shine. IMO. Use the clay bar back n' forth (front to bar) on direction works. Once you see the clay bar dirty, turn it to a clean spot.

Good luck!
Cheers,
Tommy

You could also try some "Goof-Off" from the hardware store. One of it's uses is to remove old stickers and sticky stuff.

Obviously, test it carefully on a non-visible part of the car to make sure it doesn't eat the paint...

As to clay bar, yes - directions in the package - basically just squirt and wipe. Then wax the roof.

I've done it... just keep going and don't give up lol....

and when you're finally done, you get to clean off all the adhesive residue what fun for teh whole family.

I've used goo gone before, but 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner # 08987 is what the dealerships use I believe. You may have to google it and internet order to find it. (I only know that b/c they left a whole can in my boot one time after a detail... thanks Checkered Flag!!! and wow does it work! =)

definitely makes you think twice about all those tempting decals that everyone has to offer, that's for sure!!

heat and peel, heat and peel, ad infitim...

as a stubble-head, that's the only use for a blow drier I've had in a long time
