My daughter dropped her Panasonic DMC-FX07 and it needs to be fixed. Does anyone have any experience with Precision Camera Repair in Enfield, Connecticut? Any other suggestions? TIA.

 

My only suggestion is get a good quote on the repair costs before agreeing to anything. Labor can eat away at you, and it quickly reaches a point where it's cheaper to buy a new camera. Good luck!

 

With a point and shoot, there is a good chance that it will be far more cost effective to just buy a new one then getting repaired. If you get a new one be sure to look for something drop resistant!

 

I've already done the math, and its right at the edge, but can be justified provided Precision Camera does good work, hence my question.

 

Precision Camera did a repair on my Minolta 5D D-SLR about a year ago. Other than a small snafu over who was responsible for the repair costs(camera was out of warranty, but the problem was a known issue that Konica Minolta/Sony said they would cover to have fixed), I had no problems and the repair work was good with a pretty quick turnaround.

 

I would say that if the cost of the repairs is close to the cost of a new one, just get the new one and enjoy the new warranty.

 

Cost of the repair is about half the cost of new, so if the repair is competently done, probably worth doing; camera is less than 2 years old.

 

If it is half the price of what you are planning on spending new then i would go for it.

 

I agree. Technology outdates very quickly. Get a quote first, and if it isn't a very good deal, just get a new camera.
