European camshaft development

Since our "JustaCoopers" are so popular overseas, it would seem that they have done on more R and D work on them than in the states(just like the R and D work for the "S" in the states). So, I would suspect that there are more and different grinds available from more manufacturers. Seems like most of the Google searches pull up Schrick cams. Anyone got any links, experience, dyno sheets. I think I want a more aggressive grind than the schrick. I am building for upper RPM power since I drive up there anyway I need to change my handle to TheRightGearFanatic, or InThePowerBand

There are several well known brands that are popular here.

Schrick cams are good, but they are known to add mostly in the higher rpm range and very little to nothing in the lower rpm range.

Kent is also a well know brand.
Kent cams give more power in the entire rpm range.

Catcams is also well known over here.
Catcams don't cost as much as the other two brands.

There are of course more brands out there, and on top of that some people have custom cams made for their car.
There is plenty of choice if you're looking for cams.

Kind regards

I will use in my car next month the cat cams 278/280 camshaft but the internal is modified a lot so it is not a good comparison but there is a lot of othe grind available from Catcams and the quality looks pretty good.

i already tried it and i can tell you the idle is a litle ruff en the engine light up at 5700rpm but the connecting rods on a cooper non S engine are tinny and i would expect a premature faillure if you rev the car more than 7000 rpm.(can be rised with dimsport)

bonne chance

I was thinking about going for shrick cams although I knew about Kent cams. Der Abt, you say Kent are better for mid range rpms?

What about Pipercams?

Kent cams are indeed known to give something extra throughout the entire rev range.

Pipercams also have a very good reputation.
They offer different cams for different conditions.
I believe Pipercams claims a gain of 10hp at the flywheel.

Kind regards

Thanks. Well, if I'm not mistaken power gains from camshafts depends also on how well the camshaft works with the head...so with a particular head a camshaft can give better results than others, am I right? If that's the case, do you know if the Pipercams power gains are referred to the stock head?

They do offer cams for an unmodified engine.

Quote from their website :

BP270 (Approx 270 ° duration) Fast road cam for use in otherwise unmodified engines

Kind regards
