Center stack illumination problem

Recently, the right HALF of my manual climate controls went dark. The left half still lights up normally. I'm going to be tearing into my center stack for other reasons, but wondered if anyone knows what sort of bulb/LED is back there & whether or not it's a simple replacement.

Any advice/info is appreciated.

Edit: While I'm at it, how do you get the &*%$ing downtubes out of the 05-06 models??? You know, the ones with the stupid flanges at the bottom, which seem to be there purely to make it harder to remove them.

Don't know about the LED, but to get the downtubes out you have to remove the whole console. Someone posted a while back in another thread there was a little easier trick but never bothered to tell anyone what it was.
