Depending on how many spots and what color you are better off getting the whole bumper and bonnet done.
I have seen very few spot work remain undetected after about a year. Most good painters will not blend that small of a spot. So mostly if someone is willing to spot paint they are of a lower skill level, which adds to problems later.

Also, cost will depend on where you are, the quality of the shop and how long you can leave your car. I have a friend who does great work at a low cost, but to get the 'friend' rate I have to wait for 'customer' cars to go first.

the car is dark grey and the marks on the bonnet are only very small rock chips, the chips on the bumper are slightly larger. to have a ggood wuality shop repaint the front bumper, how much on average, should that cost me? thanks

Too variable by location for us to give you a good estimate. Labor rates across the country for paint work can vary by as much as $75 an hour.

Just take it by a shop of your preference and they'll work up an estimate for you.

I would say $200 for the bumper. I'd take the bumper off myself and take just the bumper to them, one less labor charge.

When I got a bump on the rear bumper the quote to do very small repair, I mean very small, and repaint was $500 from a local shop.

i wouldn't worry about it being detectable in a year.....it's time for another repaint! (particularly with a track driven car). i spend about $400 once a year or so to get it repainted from a reputable shop. this also includes a few other minor fill and blends.
