New MINI Cooper S Owner
Hello to all!
I am a new owner of a 04 MC40! I have been wanting a Mini for over 5 Years. Well things finally fell together and as of 16 Feb 2007 I finally got one. I absolutly love it! It has 22,431 miles in excellent condition, no major flaws inside or out and a pano roof. Did I do good at $15,900? It is still under warranty until Nov. 08 according to Mini customer service. Only snag I ran into was draining the oil, due to the oil temp sensor I did not see a drain plug. I just used a extractor that I have for my jet skis. Seemed to get alot or all old oil out, because it took all 5qts to get it to the top of the full line on the dip stick. Any one else used a extractor on their Mini for a oil change? Would this method be ok to keep doing since there is a lack of drain plug?
Also I was wondering if any out there could please do a vin check for me? Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

Welcome to NAM!
The extractor is not a recommended method of draining your oil. You're not going to get it all. The plug is located on the back lower side of the oil pan. Here's an excellent thread:

I would strongly suggest getting the Bentley Press Mini Cooper Workshop Manual if you're going to do your own wrenching. Great book. Kind of pricey, but Amazon has good prices.

I love how it drives, very smooth and handles like it is on rails! Since it is the Monte Carlo edition they only came in chili red with a white roof. The wheels are very cool looking 17"s. The carbon fiber dash is also a great touch. So far no rattles at all. Thanks for you post!

Nope they were MCS with some JCW Goodies on the car from the factory. I really like the sport JCW seats!
Oil extraction.
Hi,
Nice car, great buy. I use oil extraction all
the time, no problem. This is easier for people
without a car lift, as all the work is top side.
Enjoy your new ride.

How could I tell? As far as I can tell it came from oxford with pano roof. Is there a brand name to look for or something? Please help clarify this, I hope I did not get ripped off. Thanks

JCW Seats are a Sparco variant, if I remember correctly. Even had the neck-height seat cutouts for multipoint harnesses.

great looking ride! you got a good price on it as well. i paid 16,500 for mine with 42K miles on it, but a lot of aftermarket mods. wheels, CAI, 15% pully,Borla exh,hot wires,s throw shifter.
check out my gallery for pics. I have the same interior as you but the blue version
I think it looks better in red though

Congratulations! I think you got a terriffic buy. I wanted a MC40 really bad but at the time I was looking they were very expensive. I paid $17,500 for my '04 MCS 2 years ago.
