Brabus ML - I'm thinking of buying next week

I'm member of another forum (obvious which one) and I'm seriously thinking of picking up this bad boy next week. I have to trade-in my 2007 RS4 plus cash in order to get this ROCKET.

What do you guys think? IMO - something different for a change but again, in the long run I'm not sure if it is a good deal.

If it was me. I'd stick with the RS4. It's a sedan so the center of gravity is lower which gives you better handling. That's an SUV and to me SUV's should be all about off road ability-like a Land Cruiser or Range Rover- combined with the other features you want. It's bigger than the RS4 but will it be as functional day to day?

+1. If you want to go off-roading, get an SUV. If you want performance, get (or stick with) a car.

Is it just me or does the aero bumper in the last pic look like it's been tweaked a little? Follow the line from the lights outward and notice how the washer jet cover doesn't fit square.

Big Engine, Big Brakes and big sticker.

Dubious handling, image and re-sale.

I'd keep the Audi.

Thanks to the feedbacks so far.

It's great to hear you guys tell me what you really think about this ROCKET. I couldn't address my question on MB or Audizine Forum because I'm certain they will be in favor of their own kind - so to speak.

In regards to SUV comments. This is not coming from my mouth rather from the sales rep. at Brabus. "This is NOT an SUV. This is your RS4 with an SUV shell. Seriously this is a ROCKET that will keep up and out perform some of the best sedans out there."

For those of you who care to know the price tag, $150k plus some change.

Without knowing any stats or having read any reviews about it (care to post some?), it's difficult to offer much opinion.

How about keep the RS4, and get a Cherokee SRT8 or Trailblazer SS for the times when you want a bigger vehicle that still moves? Anyway, if money is no object, then get what makes you happy. Or share the money and make us all happy!

Your gonna trade an 07 RS4 for a overpriced ML....especially from the rip off CEC Wheels?.... Your probably paying $30 extra for $10K worth of parts I guess whatever floats your boat....but I would mod the RS4!!!

Looks? RS4. Performance? RS4. Future mods? RS4. My vote? RS4. I'm not much of a Benz fan, myself. +1 on the SRT8 Grand Cherokee. Wanna go faster and have some $$$ to toss around around? Talk to this guy:

RS4, without a single question or shadow of doubt

the new ML is very good, looks great, and much better than the one it replaced, but reliability is still questionable with recent MBs isnt it?

I'd be shopping for an SUV from Weissach for that price. The ML has a dubious, no, horrid service record.....horrible is generous. I've driven an ML55 and it is a competent performer for sure (owner had an F360, so he needed a fast SUV for inclement weather). The Brabus treatment is nice, but you can't polish a turd.

To keep it in perspective - you could buy two of these:

Here is the write-up on the Brabus ML63

http://www.zercustoms.com/news/BRABU...des-ML-63.html

I love to share the money with you all, but for starters how about a free test drive. But from what everyone has shared so far, the light is starting to get dimmer and SRT8 starting to like my 2nd option.

UKSUV - The ML63 AMG MSRP is $95k. The Brabus upgrades are roughly $45k.

Thanks for the link! I'll checkout what they have to offer and price.

It's not that I want to go faster, I was aiming to get a whole different look and feel - something different from the crowd and I never owned a modified SUV yet. I never like any SUVs out there, until I saw this Brabus ML63.

I hear you Kyriian. I haven't heard any reviews about the ML63 AMGs as well, especially AMG with Brabus upgrades. But I'm not worried, it has full warranty.

beware that shop!! not the best rep in the biz....rob Peter to pay Paul (meaning, using your money and your car to fund work that was paid for six months before). Sadly, it's all too common in the aftermarket biz, but Hennessey is one of the worst. There's also some conjecture about whether their performance claims are accurate. Caveat emptor

PGT - Thanks for the heads-up. I guess I will not be making a call to them.

In regards to the Porsche Cayenne, Indy Race Car driver Tony Kanaan is selling his TechArt Cayenne Turbo for $90k (cost to build $150k+), IMO it's not as good looking as this Brabus ML. Reason I didn't consider his 90k price.

maybe an AC Schnitzer wagon would be a better option?

M5 Touring? Not brought to the US, but you can surely build your own with a donor car.

I thought about buying a E63 touring but I still feel like its a car.

Funny you mentioned zeemax, that cross my mind at first. But when I saw the Brabus ML in person, all I was able to say, very unique design (a little of everything with shapes), awesome aftermarket parts (very high quality), bada$$ SUV, worth every penny.

Similar to building a new MINI, we start with base price of $20k lets say, few minutes of clicking away the options, weu're up to $45k.

That's okay about not sharing. I can help you spend your money just the same!

Agree about avoiding Hennessey. He brings out some impressive cars for magazines, but he's had some horrible customer service issues with real customers from the Viper community from what I've read.

Supercharged Jeep SRT8
0-60: 3.8
1/4 mile: 12.5 @ 114
520 hp, 540 tq
Just one kit that I found doing a search:
http://www.gsmotorsports.com/Merchan...ry_Code=SRT8JP

1/4 mile pass of a supercharged Jeep SRT8

Test drive and review of supercharged Jeep SRT8

The SRT8 is certainly more subtle appearance-wise compared to modified Cayenne and Brabus. But different rims would really help:

If I had to pick one, the white Porsche wins hands down.

I almost bought one. The problem is the interior is CHEAP. It's substandard for any car over $20k

Sheesh, I'm having a hard time imagining what could sway me to trade an RS4 for a pimped-out SUV (regardless the performance claims). I'm not biased against Mercedes, either, it's just that this one looks paticularly cheesy to me. KEEP the RS4!
