Official Brew Swap Thread - Do The Brew!
Hey Everyone! Sorry I've been MIA as of late but between personal and work stuff I've needed the break. But I'm back baby!
First off, thanks to everyone who has ordered a t-shirt so far. I can honestly say that this is the coolest design we've had thus far and with all of the proceeds (above cost) going to charity it's even better. If you haven't seen the shirt and/or want to order, go to the gear page on the website.
Second, website is up and running. Only thing slow going on there is the Beer News. I need to catch that up. Otherwise all the details are up to date and everything you need to know is there. Still have questions or are too lazy to go to the site? Post your question in here and I will answer.
Third, this year the entire Swap is one big fundraiser. We're going to help a worthy program that helps kids learn to read. I know that isn't as catchy as some other charities out there but it is HUGE in its importance. I can speak from experience in tutoring children who have trouble reading. When they get the help they need it changes their life and that isn't a dramatization. If every attendee donates (or collects donations from friends or family) $10 we're 2/3 of the way to our goal. We also have the t-shirt sales, silent auction and the Beerlympians will have a fundraising contest on their own. The single top donor (collects the most or single handedly donates) will receive a very, very nice prize to be announced prior to MOTD. So keep an eye out here. If you can get your corporation to donate we'll also have an award for the top corporate donor. Checks should be made out to "Boys & Girls Club of the Trident Area" or "BGCTA". A straight up donation is tax deductible and receipts can be provided post-event from the BGCTA.
Last and not least, post in here about the beers you're bringing, beer in general and pump this bad boy up so everyone can be primed for Friday Night!
