I'm assuming it does. The guy on the phone told me to include the VIN on the order so they could match springs.

It better come with springs!!!!

springs and shocks. For that price, a competent upgrade!

Yes, An excellent price!

Not to hijack my own thread, but I noticed the link to your dyno chart. Did you just get tuned by Jan at Helix? How was it? My next mods are going to be the RMW cam and tune!

How much does this lower the car? That is a good price for a good suspension upgrade.

It lowers the car almost an inch... but does take some time to settle.

I helped install a kit on a friend's MCS. FWIW, it reuses the stock top-hat and upper strut mount, so if your car has some miles on it, check the mounts for cracks before installing.

Might think about adding Ireland camber plates to get the most out of the JCW system. PM me to order and Ireland products.

The JCW Suspension is springs & shocks - always. And the springs are matched to certain options on your MINI, hence the need for your VIN.

In my opinion, the JCW suspension is the perfect "street car" setup for a MINI, and it is excellent value, even at the old price - let alone this lower price! It is almost certainly the most underrated and highest value JCW option in the catalog.

That is a pretty good price - think the confusion comes from the "benefits" tab of the kit description:

The Sport Suspension kit for the MINI Cooper S includes four McPherson strut shock absorbers and the required mounting parts. The coil springs need to be ordered separately, depending on the options installed on the individual vehicle.

Btw, do the JCW springs come as an assembly on the shock / strut housing?

It's a good deal for JCW mods.

However, add $195 to buy the Megan Racing Coilover Dampers and you also get
- Spring Rates: 8kg Front and 6kg Rear
- 32 Levels of Adjustable Damper
- Front Adjustable Camber Plates
- Pillow Ball Upper Mounts
- Adjustable Ride Height

If the springs are too soft or hard you can also replace them with other springs within 2kg. Plus you can rebuild the MR system, not just replace them.

Just something to think about. More details send PM.

Yuppers. Impressed with the thorough, great job Jan did. Good torque gains down load and hp up high, plus much smoother. The cam looks great, I'm just looking for some excuse or way to buy all of the goodies.. Checking out the street price of a kidney..

We'll I have been banging around on this for a while. Even looked at Mooristown and they were a little more than that then. Think I am going to go ahead and do this.

On a mission to get some parts. JCW suspension, aero front bumper, h-sport rear sway bar, and roof rack and then start installing them. over a period of time. Right now just want to get the parts before any are discontinued.

No, you have to disassemble your old struts for the top hats (upper spring perches) and strut mounts. Yes, a good time to renew the strut mounts or add camber plates, but you'll still need the old top-hats.

Would such a set-up (JCW suspension + camber plates) make a noteable improvement relative to OEM/stock? My MCS is an '04 - would I need to install rear adjustable links to maintain correct rear camber after lowering?

Noticeable improvement in handling: yes (it's what my Cooper has).

Noticeable improvement in appearance: no.

I picked up a set of JCW struts (shocks) for 450.00 with no shipping from Brian Harris MINI in Baton Rouge, La. and a new set of upper strut mounts for the front from AutoZone for less than 100.00. I had a set of the Irealand camber plates on the car before I changed out the struts, when I disassbled my old struts I found the camber plates bent. I'm now looking for some heavyer duty plates.

Interesting... bent from mushrooming? We're actually looking at the fixed camber plates in hopes of preventing this...

The JCW kit doesn't lower the car enough to require adjustable rear arms to correct the rear camber. I imagine that was a factor in the JCW spring-spec.

Good price but a lot of work for moderate gain

If I was going to go to the trouble of removing the strut assemblies, I would replace them with adjustable coilovers.

JCW is a variation of what an MCS already has.

Good adjustable coilovers give you height and damper force adjustment. Plus you can corner-balance for racing. So you would be trading the stock struts and springs for the ability to adjust the car significantly without having to disassemble the suspension again. There is added cost, but you get more versatility for the labor involved.

Good install price as well.

MINI dealers are asking for 5 hours labor, and they also recommend a front end alignment.
