Buying an in stock 08 discount??

Hi, writing from Pittsburgh, ready to buy my 103rd car. Had an 03 Cooper, sold it in 04. I am wondering what I can expect for a discount on a new 08?? I have seen on here discounts upwards of $1000 what dealers are doing this?? I will buy in either Pa, Ohio, DC, Va. or I have a place in FLa. that I can go to to buy one. Probably not an S unless I really find a deal.. Thanks for your input..

i don't know about in stock discounts. mostly i've gotten freebies thrown in for me. anthracite interior rings, JCW **** and ebrake. cool stuff that i managed to get on my purchases. those were on another car. i bought this one privately at a considerable discount.

Email around to different dealers- you might be able to find one willing to deal- I did.

you'll have a better chance back East where there are many d'ships competing for yr business, but out here in the d'ship-challenged West discounts are nearly impossible to find except: when the model year closes out, for in stock cars above $30K, or for cabrios in the winter.

Yeah I don't really see a grand discount on an '08 especially when the dealership in my area sold out of their last remaining 20 '07s in about two weeks when just offering $1,000 in free accessories or a $500 discount plus 4.9%.

I paid MSRP but hell I am getting an '08 and they starting coming in within the last month. If you get floor mats I would get excited.
